Projects like this don’t come very often, so it was a huge honour to be asked to create the latest music video for Swedish hip-hop artists Anis Don Demina and Timbuktu.
I was tasked with directing the music video by my co-director and producer William Eklöf. With his initial treatment, I was able to art direct, storyboards and develop the sequence. We ended up creating two worlds, the “real” and “digital”, as a fun way for Timbuktu to traverse his thoughts and feelings.
My aim was to interpret the "digital world" with a painterly touch. It was a fun challenge developing this look and finding a way to create a lot of visual information efficiently. With the help of my friend Bethany Levy, who designed and animated all the characters, we were able to create a unique and surreal video in a really short timeframe.
As a result of our efforts, Naken has been officially selected for the Fredrikstad Animation Festival 2020 for the Commissioned Films category.
